RWT help after the Septembers 2024 floods in Czech

27 | 11 | 2024

At the beginning of October, we received a phone call with a request for help from a customer from the town of KRNOV, which was hit by a large flood in September. The water rose to a height of about 150 cm in the hall where the customer had the RWT BS 950 RP wide-belt sander from 2007 and other machines. The machine and its main parts therefore found themselves under murky water for a long time. So action had to be done quickly. We didn't wait for anything and gave the customer a helping hand. It was important that the machine got to our production plant in Rychnov nad Kněžnou as quickly as possible. At that time, he had already dismantled all the engines that the customer had entrusted to a professional company for quick rescue. Subsequently, he brought the machine to us in Rychnov nad Kněžnou. So we started disassembling the machine "to the screw" and began to renovate parts that could be saved. We had to disassemble all the rollers, from the rubberized, driving, driven, foot roller, pressure rollers to table rollers. Everything was cleaned of rust, we completely replaced all bearings. A new geometry of the rubberized rollers was made by regrinding.

We also dismantled the workbench and the feed belt. This was followed by the disassembly of the lifting screws, which were already heavily corroded under the dusters. The table was cleaned and flattened again, then it was varnished. Of course, we also had to replace the table lifting chain.

The pneumatic and electrical parts of the machine, which were affected by the water, had to be completely replaced. I.e. limit switches, wires, hoses, motor cables, digital metering, encoder, time relay foot, fingerboard, 4 pressure gauges + pressure regulators, foot valve, V-belts, brake air cylinder, etc.

We checked all the gearboxes in which we changed the oil filling.

We have newly painted the lower covers of the machine, doors and workbench covers.

We then installed everything back, performed all the tests and grinding the machine.

The customer can look forward to an almost new machine.
